Our Story
Spice Merchant has been bringing people together over plates of unforgettable Indian food since 1982.
What started as a single restaurant by founder Bashir Islam, Spice Merchant has grown into a small but mighty group of three — with much-loved locations in Cookham, Beaconsfield and Henley — plus a popular home online delivery and catering service.
Each restaurant has its own charm. In Cookham, you’ll find us tucked inside a 15th-century coach house full of character. Beaconsfield is all about relaxed, al fresco vibes when the sun’s out. And Henley may be our smallest spot, but it’s full of heart — cosy, intimate, and always welcoming.
At the heart of everything we do is a love of bold, flavour-packed Indian cooking. Our menus are rooted in tradition but never afraid to evolve — from classic curries passed down through generations to creative dishes with a modern twist. We use high-quality ingredients, warm spices, and time-honoured techniques to make food that’s comforting, memorable, and made to share.
